Surprise, Mom: I'm Anti-Abortion

"I was shocked that there were that many students who felt strong enough and confident enough to speak about being pro-life," said Nina Verin, a parent of another student in the class (whose oral argument was about war in Iraq). "The people I associate with in town are pro-choice, so I'm troubled — where do these kids come from?"
Die-In Dies Out: An antiwar-protest movement falls flat on opening day

A few supporters of the war, many on their way to work, tried to argue with the anti-warriors. Some staged spontaneous counter-protests. One man held a makeshift sign that read "Saddam Sez: Thanks, Suckers!" He yelled at the protesters, "You are aiding and abetting Saddam Hussein!" Visibly upset, one dred-locked girl said, "That's too provocative." Asked if the protesters themselves were being provocative, she said, "He has a right, but we're the majority, and the majority here is provoking a different vibration than that man is."

Conscripts shoot their own officers rather than fight

Small groups of dishevelled Iraqis were standing up all around us with their hands in the air, or with a dirty white T-shirt tied to a stick waving above them. Every time you turned around, a new trickle of silhouettes emerged from the horizon walking slowly towards us. One Marine joked: “Oh no. They’re surrendering at us from all sides.”

"I want to give a little bit of myself ... the people in Iraq don't know who I am but at least I know that I'm with them," she said.

Human shields await bombs in Baghdad

The Bush administration has said little about the human shields. In February, a State Department spokeswoman responded to a reporter's question about why they were in Iraq by saying, "You might as well ask me why moths fly into porch lights."
Susan Sarandon's 'Rabid' Republican Mom (washingtonpost.com)

"When I visit Susan, I tread on eggs," Tomalin said. "The most difficult time was during the election of 2000. I live in Florida, and I was a Republican poll-watcher in Polk County. Afterward, I was sitting at the breakfast table with Jack Henry, my then-13-year-old grandson, and he looked over at me, with the sweetest little smile on his face, and said, 'I hear you voted for Bush.' I looked up at Susan, who's standing at the sink, and she says, 'All he wants to know is: How could you have voted for Bush?' And I thought, 'I'm not going to discuss my politics with a 13-year-old who has been brainwashed!' But I just let it go -- even though I have never been as rabid as I have been during the past few years."

Quote of the Week - Algore on Iraq. (Shove this in the pro-appeasement protesters' faces!)

As Vice President, I supported the use of force. And if entrusted with the Presidency, my resolve will never waver."
Iraqi-Americans rally for war to 'oust Saddam' In the words of Scott Ritter:

QUESTION:You've spoke about having seen the children's prisons in Iraq. Can you describe what you saw there?

SCOTT RITTER:The prison in question is at the General Security Services headquarters, which was inspected by my team in Jan. 1998. It appeared to be a prison for children — toddlers up to pre-adolescents — whose only crime was to be the offspring of those who have spoken out politically against the regime of Saddam Hussein. It was a horrific scene. Actually I'm not going to describe what I saw there because what I saw was so horrible that it can be used by those who would want to promote war with Iraq, and right now I'm waging peace.
