Ugliness linked to parenting skill: Study suggests homely people less attentive to their children
This is a ridiculous study, and yet, since it's Canadian, my family-who-remains-there must have unknowingly coughed up coin for it.
One possibility that the author misses is that perhaps ignoring their children is ingrained behavior, i.e. perhaps their own parents ignored them and they think it's de rigeur. Ask Rodney Dangerfield. (Okay, you can't... but allegedly he was so ugly that his parents tied pork chops around his neck so that the dog would play with him, that is, when they weren't feeding poor widdle Wodney with a slingshot.)
